Privacy
Your music stays yours.
Vano Audio Player has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. It collects nothing about you and sends nothing to Kiwi Apps — there is no Kiwi Apps server for it to send anything to. What follows is the whole of it, in plain terms.
What is collected
Nothing. No personal data, no listening history, no device identifiers, no crash reports to us, no usage statistics. The application declares this in its App Store privacy manifest, which lists no collected data types and no tracking.
What stays on your Mac
Everything the application knows about your library lives on your own computer: which folders you added, playlists, playback position, settings, cached artwork thumbnails, and the loudness and dynamic range measurements it has made.
When you ask it to, it writes next to your music: tags into the audio files themselves, a dr.txt report beside an album, cover.jpg when you save artwork, and CUE sheets when a utility produces one. It reads only the folders you have chosen, and macOS holds it to that.
What leaves your Mac, and when
The application never talks to the network on its own. Each of these happens only when you ask for it, by pressing the button that does it:
| Service | What is sent | When |
|---|---|---|
| MusicBrainz | The album or track text you are searching for, or a release identifier | Looking up an album's tags |
| AcoustID | An acoustic fingerprint of the track and its duration — a compact summary, not the audio itself, from which the recording cannot be reconstructed or listened to | Identifying an unknown track |
| Cover Art Archive | A release identifier | Fetching album artwork |
| LRCLIB, NetEase | Track title, artist, album and duration | Fetching lyrics |
| Wikipedia, Discogs, YouTube, MusicBrainz Picard | Nothing — these are links opened in your browser | Choosing one of those links in the details panel |
These are independent services with their own privacy policies. Your IP address reaches them the same way it reaches any website you visit. No account of yours is involved, and nothing identifies you to them beyond that.
Children
The application is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version appears on this page with its date. A change that made the application collect something would be described here in the same plain terms as the rest.
